Gardening and Birds

A very quick card for my neighbour's birthday yesterday - bit of a panic when I looked at the calendar and realised it was her birthday.  Fortunately she has been away for a few days, but was back last night so it was waiting for her on her return.
There was even more of a panic when I went to print the elements off as I hadn't realised I hadn't got the new printer linked to the laptop.  Fortunately OH sorted that out whilst I entertained the granddaughter's when they called in with Gramp's Father's Day card and pressie, so was able to print it out and assemble it once they had gone!  phew!
The images are from Joanna Sheen's Jane Shasky "From the heart of the garden" cd.  My neighbour is a keen gardener and bird lover - so a very apt image from the cd.

Images mounted on Papermania pearlescent card, a piece of ribbon from my stash,  a Docrafts flower with a pearl added to centre, and some card candi on which I have spelled out Val using a green sakura moonlight pen.

Sassie's first Zentangle!

Whilst Sassie was up with me I showed her how to Zentangle - by jove I think she has got the hang of it!

The picture on the left was her trial run in pencil, coloured with promarkers.  Then another evening we decided to have another play - and look at the magnificent result on the right.  She has definitely got the knack, although I am not to sure of the subject matter as she made it for me.  Obviously thinks of me as the wicked witch!  - you can go off your friends sometimes - good job I love her!  Honestly I haven't got all that many broomsticks - only the one! LOL!  She is definitely hooked!

and unbeknown to her,  I was also creating a doodle for her at the same time, trying out my new coloured micron pens.  Unfortunately the photo shows up my rotten pencil shadows - hey ho!

So basically I have gone right off her - she can Zentangle better than me!  (Only joking Sass, about going off you!  x)  However, she is forgiven as she showed me how to upload photos on to my laptop.  (Heck I am missing my tower machine and my photo editing software that is on it.)

Needle Felting - first attempts!

L-R :  Me, Sass, Sass

Whilst Sassie was up staying with me she purchased some needle felting bits on one of our outings.  So obviously we had to have a play.  I had a kit that I had purchased at Make It Show at Farnborough, but hadn't really had a proper play.

We decided to try different techniques - although we both started off by using some cake decorating cutter shapes.  Sassie chose a cross, which as you can see ended up a bit lop-sided.  Mind you if you turn it on its side it looks more like a butterfly.  I used a large piece of foam for my felting, whilst Sass had bought a sort of upside down brush to do hers.

Sass then tried just doing felt onto felt with the L and heart - that turned out really well.  In the meantime, having started with a sort of paisley leaf shape for my attempt, I then rolled strands of wool between my hands and did a sort of abstract design - it does actually look better in real life.  I then proceeded to make it into a mini cushion by sandwiching some lambswool between two bits of felt.  It was quite difficult to get the edges to join, and I ended up breaking two of my needles.  Sass then had a go and she broke all three of hers.

So this was as far as we got with our playing.  Needles have now been replenished so we shall try again!

Jack's Card

Another quick card, whilst Sassie was here - this time for her to take home to her step-son, for his birthday this weekend.

The image is one from LOTV that I have had in my stash for a while waiting to be used; and I just distressed it slightly with one of my Big and Juicy pads (think it was Mountain Meadow?) and added a peel-off sentiment and some little balloons from my stash.

Card for Jo.

Simple Card using Memory Box dies.

Long time no post - mainly because my computer got sick and has gone to the puter doc - aka my son hopefully to fix.  Also for the past few days I have been quite busy, and although it has chucked it down have had a good time, as have had my cyber daughter Sassie staying with me for a week - so insanity has ruled for most of the week!  We also had my granddaughter Sunday night/Monday all day so my plastic got a tad more on it than planned with her in tow!   However, she rarely gets to go shopping with me - let alone with her Auntie Sassie to lead her astray!   LOL!

Because of the weather we had to resort to craft shopping and general retail therapy for some of the days - such hardship!

We did get to play with a few bits during the week - and I will share those over the next few days.  In the meantime, I did get a few mins to myself to make a couple of cards, and this one was a very quick one for a mutual craft pal.  Just kept it simple using my new Memory Box dies!   In fact it didn't even have an insert (very bad for me) - as I don't have all my favourite craft bits on this computer.  In fact as I don't have my usual photo prog on this laptop - Sass had to show me how to upload photos on it!  Thankfully this means that I can add a few bits to the blog.

Card for a Golfer

Another image from The Next Big Thing - coloured with promarkers.  Matted on to two shades of green papermania pearlescent card.  Had to use one of my memory Box dies again too.  Card finished off with some stick-on balloons and a couple of peel-offs from my stash.  Do love this cd of digital images - so versatile.
