Blue Trug

It started off like this.  I painted the trug with Pebeo blue./black Dyna paint  I then found a couple of my old Sheena stamps in my stash and stamped the images on the lids.  Outline with relief paint and then filled in with various Pebeo ceramic, moon and prismé paints.   The flowers were painted with a pink ceramic and turquoise and pearl moon and prismé colours   The leaves were done with pink ceramic, and two shades of green fantasy paints.   I then added a little sparkle vitrail over the top in places,to both the leaves and the flower,  and added a few more details with the relief pain to the flowers.t.

I then commenced painting the sides.  I decided to do a "paint fusion" or folk art painting.  (This is when you double load the brush with two or more colours).   I stamped another Sheena stamp in the centre in white embossing ink.  Painted the flowers and leaves with Pebeo Deco paints (these are a little thinner than normal Pebeo acrylics and are superb for this technique).  I used blue, pink and white for the flowers, with yellow and a smidgen of green for the centres: and two shades of green and white for the leaves.   I then went over the whole thing with white relief paint and added some details.

I then freehand painted a couple of roses (blue and white)  and leaves, again added a little relief details to them, finally I painted  white dots with the end of a white paint brush.

I then painted the other side and the two ends freehand as before - using a slightly larger brush.

I really enjoyed this as it is along time since I had my Pebeo Fantasy and Deco paints out. and am pleased with the result.  Hope you agree it looks pretty.

Owl Plaque

I had great fun building and painting this  plaque from Olifantjie.    The back had black gesso applied, and then was painted with my favourite Pebeo Blue/Black DYNA paint, and oversprayed with Montan effect in white.

The owl, branch and flowers were painted with various Amsterdam paints and for the claws I mixed some Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff with yellow acrylic to create texture on the claws.    The yes were painted with a mixture of Pebeo Vitrail and Fantasy paints to give that glassy-eyed look.  The centre of the flowers had some Nuvo drops added.     The rim was sponged with a mixture of Jade, Aqua and Clotted Cream Starlights paint.  Finally a coat of spray and shine was applied.

Yes I admit it - I am hooked on making this cement jewellery.  Again work in progress as you can see from the first picture I need to finish the edges and the backs.  (I am waiting for my liquid gold leaf to arrive).

Cement Jewellery

Cement jewellery I hear you say?  Yes - using jewellery cement by Rayher.  It is quite lightweight.

I ordered the kit and some extra bits and bobs back at the beginning of August, but there was a delay on delivery, so was hoping that I would remember how to use everything!   Fortunately there are some very simple instructions in the packs.

Having caught up with all the washing from a long weekend away with the family, I was itching to get my fingers on the goodies that arrived yesterday morning.

Here are last night's castings:

When I had filled the rubber molds, I dropped some little sticky gems from my stash onto the top, when the clay was beginning to "crust" over.  (As you can see the molds are designed so that you have a hole for your cord.)

This morning came the "fun" bit - decorating them.  I had no idea where I was going with them.  The kit comes with some "adhesive milk" some fine very sticky double sided tape, gold leaf, paintbrushes and varnish.

Below are individual photographs and how I did each one.   (I will add that I started off by trying some brushos on them mixed with Brusho Aquawax, but wasn't completely happy with the result - so left the backs finished with that.   I used the gold leaf, adhesive milk and the double sided tape on some, and then experimented with Gilding Flakes and various Pebeo Fantasy paints.

Oval: using adhesive milk and gold leaf, and then Pebeo Vitrail and Prsmé

Heart: Using adhesive milk and Gilding Flakes, and a stripe of unicorn sparkles

Diamond: Gold leaf stripe using double sided tape and Pebeo Prismé

Oblong:  using Pebeo Moon and Prismé

Hope you like the effects.  I have plans to try some stamping on the clay blanks and perhaps using some peel-offs and acrylic paint/ Pebeo Fantasy paints......... Watch this space!

Enamelled Tray

I have had a couple of these trays for a while now.  I had got as far as applying black gesso last year, and had intended making some Christmas pressie, but when my husband died last October, my mojo disappeared.  At last I have got around to doing something with them,

My idea was to create a sort of Japanese lacquer finish.   As most people will who have worked with the Pebeo Fantasy paints, ceramic and vitrail - they do have a mind of their own.   Each section started off with a coat of Vitrail, but because it is on black, the different colours don't show up that well.   Two sections the gold and the cream one were more opaque colours.  I must look out for more opaque vitrail.

The sections were coloured very randomly - with a few drops of each colour I chose just dropped in and allowed to do their own thing.   I then drew a cocktail stick through the designs in a sort of spider's web design to create swirls.  (dragging from centre out and alternating dragging from edge to centre).

Finally the rest of the wooden surround was painted with black ceramic paint.  I am in two minds whether to leave it as it is or whether to get a gold or silver Pebeo Marker and run it around the top edge of the sections, and to tie that in mask off the side edge and do the same with that to create a stripe around it,

Anybody got any thoughts!

Life has been a tad fraught  for the past two weeks, and have still to get through the funeral next week.  However I did manage a few moments in the Den earlier in the week, and managed to finish the second side of these.    (with apologies if you have already seen first sides).

Had fun making this with Pebeo ceramic vitrail and Fantasy paints

This view shows the base which is same as reverse and was "splodge" with Pebeo DYNA paints in black, blue/black, bluegreen and silver to match the front.

Hopefully this will be a vague step by step guide to how I decorated these MDF letters from The Works.

First apply gesso with either a brush or a sponge

Then apply White Pebeo Ceramic paint to the top side

and whilst wet dribble on Vitrail, and Prisme (or Moon) paints and then add in some ceramic paint
and run a kebab stick through the paints to mix them

When dry apply ceramic paint to the other sides and let dry in between the sides.  (I also applied a coat of resin over the top of this set.)

I also did a set to which I applied Black gesso and then applied red vitrail to the top

Whilst  red Vitrail is wet drop on some Pebeo Fantasy Moon
 with a kebab or cocktail stick

then dribbled on some Carmine Fantasy Moon, and some antique white ceramic

Finally drop in some more red vitrail (sorry about quality of picture, but you can see
the drops of red vitrail) and then draw a kebab stick through to mix

When dry apply the red vitrail to the other sides/edges

The bonus with HOME is that the letters are reversible - so I did different colours
on the front and bakc

The idea was good, but ......

...... it didn't go quite right,  You just never know how mixed media ingredients are going to react!

I ran the sheet of canvas through the embossing folder. applied gesso and painted the back ground with blue/green Pebeo iridescent DYNA paints, and then with my finger rubbed some green/blue over the swirl and painted the top of the baubles with precious gold.  Fine so far and then it went pear-shaped when I did the mixed media baubles!

The only two that turned out OK were the middle one at the top and the bottom left (well it would have been ok if the paint hadn't overflowed!)

However, I shall not give up on the idea - I shall just use fantasy paints on their own next time.

"Pebeo Bubbles"

Having seen a Pebeo U-tube video of little canvases 

(   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoLRAG2zV78    )  I decided I wanted to play .......

I didn't want to do a huge canvas, (and I am a skinflint when it comes to using my paints! )so I found these little cardboard discs that I originally was going to use for marbling with my grandchildren.  I didn't really want to gesso them all, so I just used some Pebeo gel to seal them.  

I wanted it to look like a lot of bubbles - so chose various sizes.   I may well re-arrange them before I stick them down permanently.

I then sat with a load of Pebeo Vitrail glass paints and Fantasy Moon paints and dribbled colours all over them with kebab sticks as the mood took me.  Really had fun.

To give you and idea of the size - they are on an A5 canvas.

A little experiment with a small canvas

A coat of turquoise Pebeo vitrail and light green vitrail applied first , and then darker blue pour over the top, an with a stencil brush colour removed to show the turquoise.   Dark green applied to base of canvas and stroked through the light green with a kebab stick.

When dry I applied some Pebeo Mixtion relief through the "grasses" stencil which is party of the Clarity Stamp Natural Accents set, with a palette knife.  I also applied some around the edge of the moon from the same stencil.

When dry I applied various foils from my stash over the Mixtion, together with the Pebeo Mirror effect foil, and also applied the mirror effect to the moon/sun - which was then filled with two shades of Pebeo Fantasy Moon paints, swirled together.

The top picture was taken in the sun and doesn't really show the relief work of the stencil - so here is another photo.
