Paint Fusion - Miniature Chest of Drawers

My new Sheena Douglass Paint Fusion stamps and the new Pebeo paints arrived yesterday, and I managed to get to play today.  I had already painted this little box of drawers whilst waiting for them to arrive.  (Box of drawers was from The Works)

I am a little out of practise using the round brush, so it is not as good as I would have liked, but not bad for a first try. (Onwards and upwards as they say)

Aquatints Card

This card was an experiment.  It was also for my daughter to go with her cake.  I have had Sheena Douglass's Aquatints for a while, and really hadn't played with them in earnest.  So this was a first attempt at using the Pebeo drawing gum (which is a water based masking fluid - and is MAGIC!)

I couldn't find my water colour card - so this was done on ordinary heavyweight white card.  I stamped the flower image and leaves (one of Sheena's sets) and painted on the drawing gum.

I then painted the background using blue mixed with silver and green mixed with gold from the aquatints.  I then rubbed off the masking liquid, and painted the flower and leaves.  on the flower I painted the edge and then dragged the colour into the petals, and blotted it for a bit of faux bleaching.  The leaves got painted with various depths of the green and a bit of the red I used for the flower.   Finally I sprinkled some drops of water over the card and blotted them for some more faux bleaching effect.

Mounted on a matching piece of pink card and a stick on greeting added.

Quite pleased with this for my first attempt, and my daughter got a "real" card for a change instead of one designed in CAP!

Faux Leather

bookmark

I have had fun today, and have been making faux leather as per an idea by Sheena Douglass.   I couldn't find my Sheena embossing folders - ovbiously in a very safe place, or up in the Den!  However, I made do with some old cuttlebug folders in my stash, that haven't seen the light of day for a long while!    I particularly like this book mark, using one of the narrow folders.

I also don't have a lot of distress inks (something to be rectified), at least not a lot of brown shades, so once again I made do with what I had - using mainly bundled sage, scattered straw, peeled paint, and dusty concord.  I also got out my Ink Duster and used some orange colours from a couple of my Big and Juicy pads.  Amazing how you can improvise!

owl folder again, but done twice to make a book cover

Really loving this effect.  I have some new Sheena embossing folders on order - hope they arrive soon.  I also have some times that I want to cover with a leather effect - so watch this space!
