Mixed Media Aenmones

I used Sheena's anemone die and stamps again, but this time experimented with acrylic paints and some decoart coloured gilding wax.

Most of the petals were painted with Pebeo DYNA iridescent paints, but the purple and pale blue had the back petals coloured with the gilding wax.

When dry I used the stamp for the markings, and then using the "brush embroidery" technique, I outlined the petals with Pebeo Mixtion Relief, brushed it out onto the petals,  and when dry applied Pebeo mirror foil.  (Blue for the dark blue one and silver on the other two)  The leaves were painted with yellow green DYNA, and shaded with a darker green Pebeo acrylic.  They were also treated with a little mixtion and some had green foil added, and some gold, because I couldn't decide which I liked best!  Finally I added a gemstone to the middle.

Playing with Pebeo Products - Mixed Media

I managed to have a little play in the Den today, as for once we had sun.  (Also encouraged by the fact that I had eldest granddaughter with me as she was off school, so thought I would let her play with my Pebeo paints).

Somebody had posed a question on Facebook, about the effects of the different Fantasy paints and vitrail, so I thought I would do a sample piece of different effects.

My 14 year old granddaughter also had a play:    Hers is a work of art! (as opposed to my sample piece).  She used most of the same colours as me in different combinations.  As usual having shown her how to do it - she surpassed me!

Mixed Media Letters again

Life has been a tad fraught  for the past two weeks, and have still to get through the funeral next week.  However I did manage a few moments in the Den earlier in the week, and managed to finish the second side of these.    (with apologies if you have already seen first sides).

Playing with mixed media again this time blues, black and white

HOME letters - the other side

As HOME is reversible I have painted the other side of the letters in a slightly different colourway.  It is quite amazing using much the same colours how different you can make it look.  I used more ceramic paint on this side.

First side - for reference

Hopefully this will be a vague step by step guide to how I decorated these MDF letters from The Works.

First apply gesso with either a brush or a sponge

Then apply White Pebeo Ceramic paint to the top side

and whilst wet dribble on Vitrail, and Prisme (or Moon) paints and then add in some ceramic paint
and run a kebab stick through the paints to mix them

When dry apply ceramic paint to the other sides and let dry in between the sides.  (I also applied a coat of resin over the top of this set.)

I also did a set to which I applied Black gesso and then applied red vitrail to the top

Whilst  red Vitrail is wet drop on some Pebeo Fantasy Moon
 with a kebab or cocktail stick

then dribbled on some Carmine Fantasy Moon, and some antique white ceramic

Finally drop in some more red vitrail (sorry about quality of picture, but you can see
the drops of red vitrail) and then draw a kebab stick through to mix

When dry apply the red vitrail to the other sides/edges

The bonus with HOME is that the letters are reversible - so I did different colours
on the front and bakc

The idea was good, but ......

...... it didn't go quite right,  You just never know how mixed media ingredients are going to react!

I ran the sheet of canvas through the embossing folder. applied gesso and painted the back ground with blue/green Pebeo iridescent DYNA paints, and then with my finger rubbed some green/blue over the swirl and painted the top of the baubles with precious gold.  Fine so far and then it went pear-shaped when I did the mixed media baubles!

The only two that turned out OK were the middle one at the top and the bottom left (well it would have been ok if the paint hadn't overflowed!)

However, I shall not give up on the idea - I shall just use fantasy paints on their own next time.

Pebeo Bubbles - updated!

So I got to finishing my Bubbles canvas.   I decided to draw some little bubbles with Mixtion relief and then when dry I applied gedeo mirror foil, plus some holographic blue and pink from my stash.  I also wrote the title using Pebeo imitation lead liner, and rubbed the top of the letters with a little silver gedeo gilding wax.

Just playing and experimenting with some little hearts.

Finally a little mixed media piece, from an idea on a Pebeo Inspiration site.  Pebeo sand texture gel mixed with gold DYNA iridescent and applied with palette knife. Sky painted with DYNA Blue/Green.  Sea - blue  Pebeo Vitrail  applied with kebab stick (yes I could have made the horizon a bit mor level - but can rectify that)  Surf created with Pebeo antique white ceramic paint.   Sun created with gold outliner and a gold Fantasy paint, and birds with black outliner.

By chance I came across a little plastic starfish and a seahorse in my stash - by inadvertently knocking a box to the floor! (so happy accident, and goodness knows where they came from - perhaps even out of a cracker)  The starfish was painted with yellow vitrail, and the starfish with bronze DYNA.

I should add here that I actually only painted two of my little hearts - one of them is painted on both sides!

Mixed Media and .....

Miniature Mixed Media Canvas

On Saturday my youngest granddaughters popped in to see me, and after an impromptu bacon butty lunch, they wanted to "raid" my Den.   It seems in future I must learn to buy 3 of everything as they all wanted to use the same things!

Having shown them the "HOME" letters that I painted with Pebeo Ceramic and Fantasy paints, they wanted to know how to do it

They all took turns in dropping some red vitrail paint onto the canvas and then choosing the Fantasy paints that they wanted to drop into the centre as well as some of the glitter vitrail.   They were fascinated by the reaction of the paints.   Needless to say it required 24 hours to dry so they didn't see the effect of their finished "splodges".

As I wasn't sure when I would see them next, I hadded a couple of splodges of my own, and when dry I carefully filled in the background with black ceramic paint, and when that was dry I added some squiggles with Pebeo Mixion and when that was tacky I added a few gilding flakes.  The edge of the board was finished off by applying two shades of gold Pebeo gilding wax.

It may only be tiny, but when the sun catches it ......... fantastic effect.

Amazing what you can do with a few kebab sticks and some paint - i.e. no brush was applied to the canvas at all.

Decorated Letters

 I made these decorated letters for my granddaughters.

The eldest one "E" chose her colours - as black and white are her favourite.  I thought this was going to be the hardest one to do - but turned out to be the easiest.

I painted the letter with black gesso and then black paint.  When dry I used a stencil and using a make-up sponge sponged on white gesso and white acrylic mixed together.  I added various black and white ribbons and flowers and some gems.  the flowers were stiffened with pva glue and water.

As it turned out, these three for the younger girls turned out to be a bit harder.  As you will see further on I had trouble getting the background colour as I wanted it.

They are decorated with Hearty Clay flowers and animals etc, which have been painted with acrylic, also some wooden bits, some stick-ons, fabric floers and some sqiggles with Pebeo Mixion relief and mirror leaf, and a few droops of Pebeo Fantasy Moon and Prisme paints.  (You will probably have to click on the photo to see it more clearly).   I couldn't remembe what animal B wanted, I seem to remember it was something I couldn't make, so she got a rabbit as they have rabbits as pets.   C wanted a monkey - managed that one; and little T has just started ballet - so that was supposed to be a ballet dancer - but think it has turned out more like a doll!
