Crafty Day

My eldest granddaughter visited today, as her mum had to go into teach extra lessons (yes it is the school holidays!)

When I was at the Big Bead Show, Dizzy-Di was demonstrating these hot fix bracelets, so I purchased the necessary components, and Ellie and I made these two today.  Not perfect - but not bad for first efforts!

We also spent some time in the Den, I was mainly doing boring stuff like applying Gesso on items I need to paint.  Meanwhile Ellie had brought a new watercolour painting kit with her, and painted these two little pictures. I think they are great - wish I could draw like that when I was 12, well actually wish I could draw like that now!  I love the first one.

A Bracelet and a Mask

 

I have been practising some new knots, and decided to make a bracelet.  Colours aren't brilliant in the photo - rattail is pink and purple, and the beads are purple hematite.  I like the knots on the end of the bracelet instead of beads, they don't catch so easily.

 

This is the mask my eldest granddaughter made.  I love the colour blue and green metallic acrylic mixed together.  The flowers were stamped out of Cloud Clay using cake decorating cutters, and then painted.  The eyes and mask were edged with silver gilding wax.

Flowerpot Makeover

 

 

Two of my granddaughters had flowerpots to decorate for a National Trust competition.   They have nurtured the geraniums from small cuttings, and they have flowered beautifully.  Unfortunately typical for the final day most of the flowers had finished!  (although there are more to come).

 

Needless to say they wanted to decorate them in the Den.   We had started to run out of time to get them done, so they had a little help from me preparing the white surface and getting it dried before they set to work decorating them, although they learned how to do the stippled effect themselves with modelling paste and titanium white acrylic.

 

With two days to spare, they managed to get the little wooden decorations painted and stickles applied, and then got them stuck on to the pots.  The 7 year old didn't paint so many - she is a bit of a perfectionist and was a little slower than her 4 year old sister - who I think was painting shapes like there was no tomorrow!

 

The finished efforts looked fantastic, so I created a little memory page for them in CAP, with a background created from a couple of pictures of my craft den to set off their efforts.
