3D Printing - Fun Day

My daughter and eldest granddaughter called round this afternoon to use the 3D printer. 

My daughter wanted to create some cookie cutters.   The first two pictures show the sloth cutter and the Pi cutter in progress.

Well we had to make some cookies didn't we to try the cutters out:

My daughter then made an Escher style cutter, and again we had to try them out.   I also cut out some shapes from air dry clay.

Finally my daughter attempted a Lithophane of one of her photos of Tim Peake with Crochet Tim.

 I think the Lithophane is fab.   she is going to try it again using a negative print.

We had a great afternoon.   Whilst the printer was working (it takes a while sometimes) I played with an idea in my art journal and I will share that tomorrow.

3D Printing

We had a lovely family day over the weekend, with my daughter, son and eldest granddaughter designing and printing with the 3D printer I treated the family to for Christmas.

My daughter has had quite a bit of practise with it now and showed my son how to use the software.  Here are a few bits we made:

We coloured the three white bookmarks with blue markers

Apart from the spaceman, the dice and tag designed by granddaughter - the other items were from Thingyverse.

3D printing

Just a quickie today.  Over the weekend my daughter played with our 3D printing machine and produced some baubles    This is the one she made me.   I may paint it a little and add some glitter.

3D Printing

I treated my family to a 3D printer for Christmas - but of course had to try it out when it arrived (In fact this was the second one received as the first one failed to proceed so had to be returned - thankfully this one seems to be working ok)

It might not be very inspiring - but we had a little play to make sure it worked and this is what my daughter produced:  two paperclips, three cogs, a dice (though this is a bit iffy as whoever designed it didn't get the opposite sides to add up to seven - lol!) and  geometric snowflake - at least I think that is what it is called.   My daughter was operating the machine at the time, and being a mathematician it had to be something to do with mathematicsl!

Not sure whose house it is going to live in - I think it will be travelling between homes on a regular basis!   I might even get to have a play at some point, although I will need some lessons first!
