Well back in my comfort zone for this card.   Backing paper and toppers, all mounted on silver mirri are from Joanna Sheen's Enchanted Dreams cd.  The computer generated sentiment was created with a faux background, by copying and cropping part of the background before mounting on the same silver mirri.

Fairy Card

The request for this card from a pal was that it had Fairies on it.  No problem as I knew I had my JS Enchanted Dreams CD.  I had put off making the card as I knew the recipient's mum was very ill, and was aware that the wording might need careful consideration.  I could hardly put "Happy Birthday" on it.  Sadly her mum died, and my pal and I have been to her funeral today.  It was a beautiful "farewell" to a lovely lady.  It was an Humanitarian funeral - completely non-religious.  Linda's mum had sorted it all herself, complete with having bought the stick-on butterflies to be put on her coffin.  On a happier note another friend of our family gave birth to a second son today - what is it they say - one out,one in.

Cream cardstock.  Image mounted on silver mirri, as is the sentiment.  (I put the image into MCS, and picked out one of the colours for the sentiment and its border).  Image  is then mounted on a larger copy of the image, also mounted on silver mirri, and that in turn is mounted on the backing paper that goes with the image, mounted on purple pearlised papermania card.

Experiment with an image

I love the Joanna Sheen Enchanted Dreams cd, and in particular this image.   I imported the image into Publisher then copied and cropped it and then enlarged it to the size I wanted as an experiment to use as as a ribbon of backing paper.

I was thrilled when I was planning the design in Publisher to see that the "wings" appear to match perfectly.  I will confess that I had no idea when I started to play that this would happen, and am really quite pleased with the effect.

I edged the backing strip with a peel-off, and matted the image on mirri card, which is raised up slightlly on 3d tape.  Finished the card with a simple peel-off Happy Birthday and some pink sparkly stars which pick up the colours in the image.  Card was a pale green Papermania Shimmer Textured cardstock from the Aqua Marine pack. 

Card for a Granddaughter

Gosh I have been so busy decorating lately and it is still ongoing, but I had to have a break today and make some cards.   Here is the first one:

When I asked my granddaughter what she wanted on her cake for this birthday - she replied "Three Musketeers" - fine I thought - Google for some inspiration.  The other day I sat and prepared the idea for a card, using the Disney Three Musketeers, and was really quite pleased with the ideas I came up with for a cake and a card.  HOWEVER .... last night I discovered that she wanted Barbie Three Musketeers !!!!!  Oh heck! mega rethink - and googling wasn't a lot of help.  I eventually found an image of Princess Corrinne, and with my lateral thinking head on - grabbed my Debbi Moore Masks cd.   This is the result:

Card is Papermania Shimmer Textured cardstock, with some of the same in a different shade for the matting and layering of the main image which I produced in Publisher.  Princess Corrine is decoupaged, and the flowers use the same main colour cardstock, cutout with cuttlebug and a Marianne die.  Gems added to flowers and Princess Corrine's dress, which  has also had glitter added.

The insert was a backing paper from JS Enchanted Dreams, and I made a pop-up mask from Debbi Moore's Venetian Masks, printed on to the same cardstock as main card, and added a few gems and glitter.  (The mask idea came from reading up about Barbie Musketeers and the fact her and her pals wore masks).  Hopefully it looks a bit like the mask that Princess Corrinne is wearing in the image on the front of the card - she is wearing it like a tiara in that image!)

Hopefully a 5 year old will love it.   Now to set to work on the cake ......... (watch this space, later this week)

Stargazer Lily

I chose this image and backing paper from JS Royal Horticultural Society CD to match the stargazer lillies that are going on her cake.  I also attempted to create a paper lily embelishment - not brilliant for a first attempt, but at least you can tell what it is supposed to be.  Petals cut with an ek punch, painted with water-colour pencils and cosmic shimmer, and then a little glitter added.   The stamens were from my cake decorating stash!  (Even when I made sugar lillies on cakes - I hated painting stargazer ones!

I will also confess that the green ribbon was from my cake decorating stash - and actually had Happy Christmas all along it - so I just turned it over and stuck it down - nobody will ever know - and you won't tell will you?

The image and backing paper have also had a little glitter added to "lift" them.

For the insert I used the JS Enchanted Dreams cd and used insert from Pisces in the Zodiac section, but also added the Lily image to it as well.
