Phew finished! - Christmas Cakes 2013

my cake

Kept it simple this year, and went back to the 1980s, when I first taught sugarcraft.  This arrangement was one of the first I taught, albeit it wasn't a stained glass window then it was a couple of candles.

Rich fruit cake.  Top decorations made from flowerpaste, piped fircones, and stained glass window cutter from Patchwork Cutters.  Shine on the window achieved with piping gel.

my son's cake - they like Royal Icing.

This one is a small pressie

Christmas Cards

I have been a bit lax with the blogging of late - but have been busy - honest!   Card making, cake making and Christmas shopping.  So thought I would share a few pictures of some of the Christmas Cards I have created in CAP.

These first few are for my family:

Cards for Granddaughters

and this for eldest granddaughter - who loves the latest moustache trend  - so made the tree with moustache shapes.  The insert says have a "moustachio" Christmas! (seem to have forgotten to take a photo of the finished card - oops!

more cards to follow over next few days!  - you have been warned!

Sympathy Card

I had to make one of those difficult cards today for a friend, whose husband died today.  I didn't want to make it too formal, as although relatively sudden, following a recent fall, and a heart attack,  he had had a good life and was 93.    There is a subtle reference to their Scottish heritage in the little tartan ribbons in the centre of the flowers.

I was originally going to create it all in CAP2, but couldn't find the sort of images I wanted.  So opted for some hybrid crafting, and just created the insert in CAP.

R.I.P. Frank.  We never met, but I knew so much about you.  A kind, gentle, life-loving man. xxx

A few cards

Just for once I have actually produced a hybrid card.  Don't faint!   Definitely a less is more card, created with a die, a punch, a punch and some peel-offs.  I have hundreds of peel-offs in my stash, and do try and use them every so often.

However, the next two were created in my beloved CAP!  The first being for my great niece, and uses one of my favourite digikits.

This second one involved being a bit creative with an image of the statues out to sea at Newbiggin, where my cousin lives.  As she is a card-maker, I tried to think outside the box slightly, and add some subtle personalisation.
