Another Peacock card

I seemed to be in Peacock mood last week, so this is another card, but this time made in CAP.

Well for once I have chosen to use a stamp and an embossing folder for this card.   It was created with  freebie stamps and folder that came with one of my magazines, and I really couldn't resist using it.

The image was stamped and coloured with promarkers in peacock ccolours - although you wouldn't believe it from the photo!   I then added jewels to the image.   The cardstock once embossed with the folder had blue/green/purple ink brushed into the edges.

Black and White

My eldest granddaughter's favourite colours these days are black and white, so with her requiring a cake for her birthday on Valentine's day, the answer was obvious.

I kept it simple for maximum effect - she is over the moon with it!  -  phew!

The cake is a a gluten and dairy free sponge, with a vanilla "buttercream" and strawberry jam filling and then coated in sugarpaste.  It is the first time I have made a gluten free sponge from scratch and it turned out really well, and was nice and moist.  For the dairy free part I used Stork hard margarine which is made from vegetable oil.   (I always have used Stork instead of butter, ever since I started making cakes, many many years ago - mainly because my favourite cake recipe book is a Stork one!) The "buttercream" filling was also made with hard Stork with vanilla extract added.   Many people will say yuk - margarine - but actually it works better than butter and is not so cloying!

42 !

My daughter's favourite non-prime number is 42 and an avid fan of the Hitchhikr's Guide to the Galaxy.  Added to which she is a maths teacher, so it was obvious for her 42nd birthday that this should be reflected in her card and cake.

So it was Craft Artist to the fore for both.

The cake topper was also designed in Craft Artist, and then printed at our local little shop - Simply Topps.

I can report that she was thrilled with both.

Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are so difficult aren't they.   However, I noticed that the cards available in the shops are a lot less drab and more flowery these days  (and I received over 60 when my husband died, and they were all so beautiful).  So I decided that I would make a "pretty" card for this difficult time.    As usual created using my faithful Craft Artist programme.

I had to include some butterflies as they are so symbolic.

Birthday Card

A fun birthday card for a friend who is about to spend her birthday on holiday in Barbados.  She also has two dogs - a pug and shih tzu./  Hope she likes it.

Shambala Bracelet

I have actually got around to making something for the first time this year.   My excuse is that I had a pal staying for a few days, and I am still trying to sort out all the paperwork following my husband's death in October, which seems to be never ending.

Anyway tonight I actually got around to making a bracelet - the cord and beads have only sat on my table for about 5 days - so I suppose that is an achievement in itself!   I did cheat slightly with the embellishment on the box, as it was in my stash! - it was probably something I saved from a card from a crafty pal.
