Beer Helps !

I had a male birthday card to make.  I struggle with those,  particularly if it is family as you want to do something different each year.

I tried a few layouts and then I remembered that I had a stencil which was part of a set that I bought, and I didn't think I would have occasion to use this one!    Wrong - I think it will come in very handy for male birthdays - particularly in this crazy pandemic world.

Diamond Wedding Card

Have you missed me? - I am pleased to report that I am still in the land of the living following my operation last week.  Have been taking it easy.  Also my crafting mojo has gone walkabouts!

Had to find it quickly today .... as discovered late this afternoon after an afternoon of gardening that it is my neighbour's Diamond Wedding Anniversary today!    Craft Artist to the rescue, so that I could quickly make a card and pop it through their door whilst they were being taken out tonight to celebrate!

Mind you it was nearly a catastrophe - having applied some glue to add some glitter - I grabbed the wrong pot and managed to pour glue over the card instead of glitter - oops.   Thankfully having created the topper in Craft Artist I was able to print off another image!

Resin Green Man ........

........ well maybe not green ........
...... I over-calculated the amount of resin needed for the mushroom man - I think I must have forgotten to reset the scales to zero when I filled the mould with water to gauge how much resin I needed - oops!

It was therefore a case of grab a mould quickly to pour in the resin, as typically the mushroom man was the last mould that I filled - so this one has no prior mica powder dusing.   I could paint him if I so desire, but I rather like his colour which was a mix of clear and bronze micas.

By the time you read this particular day's blog I shall hopefully be recovering from an operation on my leg (I am having to have an angioplasty and stent as I have a wound on the back of my heel caused by an slight disagreement with a wheelie bin, which is refusing to heal and is very painful - However, it has done me a favour as I probably wouldn't have known I needed the stent in my leg, as I was showing no symptoms!)

Hopefully by then I will also have another new mould, and then I also plan to buy some different resin which is already coloured black or white - and I need to experiment with those colours and dusting with pigments too!   😃   So watch this space - once I have recovered.

Resin Green Man - Old Green Man (Bachus)

I had fun dusting this one, attempting to get some different shades on his grapes.   I think another one will be in the pipeline with green grapes!

Resin Green Man - Uncle Bob

Uncle Bob didn't quite go to plan - His beard should have been whiter - I had wanted to make him look like Father Christmas.   I love him, but he wasn't quite what I had planned.

Resin Mushroom Man

I love this little mushroom man.     Now that he has been poured, I can see where I missed some bits of dusting.   I didn't realise he had a mouth under his moustache.    It is quite difficult to see the details sometimes.   I must learn to create a quick test with clay to help.   I know I shall be making him again though!

Also it was difficult to capture in the pictures, but there is quite a bit of shading in his "hat"

Resin Owl

The next new mould was the owl.  Again made my Jo Jarrett of the Craft Hut, but the only stockist is the website - I love Mixed Media.

It is difficult to capture the fantastic shine in a photo - so I am sharing two pictures taken with different backgrounds.

Resin Bee

I have been playing with resin again this week and some new moulds.   I didn't realise how big this mould was - his wing span is about 8 inches!

I "painted" the mould with mica powders and Indigoblu Luscious Powders (these were mainly used for the wings).

I want to make another one, but use some clay to block off the wings in order that I can pour them, and when set then pour the body in a different colour.

Another Anniversary Card

As yesterday, another anniversary card using a photo of one of my roses taken this week.   I took the image  into the cut-out studio in Craft Artist and removed the background and created frames and added a sentiment.    I also added some little diamanté at the bottom.

Here is the original photo of the rose:
