A Little More Resin - a bit of a catastrophic day!
I decided to try Uncle Bob Christmas again using white resin as a background, as opposed to clear resin with a little liquid white pigment in it. It was all a bit catastrophic from the start. I didn't have my glasses with me in the Den - (too lazy to go back down to the house to get them as I thought I could manage! - wrong) So I didn't realise that I had got some stray red pigment in the wrong place on Uncle Bob.
I then started tomix the resin - the first part went into the plastic cup ok, but when I started to pour part B in - the scales seemed not to be registering properly .... erm yes, well ........ it helps if you don't have a crack in the cup! Heck there was resin everywhere - all over the scales (yes they are a right off) all over my work table - fortunately covered in plastic. Mad panic to mop up most of it before it set - the resin I was using was very quick setting - the resin that was still in the cup got chucked out, still in the cup on the garden! (Anybody want a cup shaped block of resin - lol!) Oh what a mess - although I managed to get most of it mopped u, as I said apart from my little jewellery scales -just as well I had ordered a new larger set on my next Sains order already!

Undeterred, I started again and mae another mix - I don't like the effect of the white resin - regardless of the fact that not having my specs on I couldn't see the dodgy dusting until after it was set. So you win some you lose some - at least I hadn't lost my expensive clear JenArt resin.
You can see more clearly on the separate pictures the mess I made of brushing the mica onto uncle bob, and the butterfly wasn't that much better - albeit looks like a piece of old porcelain! Good job I am not afraid to post my mishaps on my blog !!!!!!

Resin
After a week of resin no playing nicely, I managed some good pours the other day. The one above is a dried gazania flower in a clear resin coaster
This was an experiment to turn the Uncle Bob mould into Father Christmas.
I think it has worked quite well. He has such a jolly face.
This is another view of Uncle Bob Christmas, taken on a black background.
I also made this ickle butterfly - which is pendant size for a necklace.

Paint Pouring
I have been trying a new technique with paint pouring, with a product from the Glass Hut. I haven't quite mastered the technique yet, as I am not getting the cells - I think itis to do with the black paint I am using - I need a thicker paint. This one wasn't too bad, but the ones around the edge weren't so good
This one seemed to go completely wrong - so I ended up drawing a kebab stick through it - quite like the effect, even if it wasn't what I was aiming for.

More Experimenting with Modelling Paste
Another quick experiment with an even finer mould. I have compared it with the first one Really pleased with the result.
... and to prove how flexible it is here is the top one rolled up a little - I could make it even tighter

Experimenting with Modelling Paste
I have experimented with silicon moulds/texture mats before with little success, so I was really pleased that this one turn out ok. I used Pentart light modelling paste. The lace peeled out of the mould with easy. It is also very flexible. It would look great around a bottle or jar.
I have a few other moulds to try now!

Birthday Card
I changed my mind so many times making this card - I started by attempting to do something with a dreamcatcher stamp, but ended up scanning the page I doodled a while ago, and resizing it and putting it into Craft Artist. Hope the recipient realises it is an original drawing by me!

Large Green Man
Having had a catastrophe with the nose of the green man the other day - I did another pour - and thankfully no problems - it set with 24 hours . I did breathe a sigh of relief as it was the resin from the same batch as the items I poured over previous days!

A few bits of resin
I had a mega pouring session over a couple of days last week. It didn't all go to plan, as the resin decided it wasn't going to play nicely .... I don't know why and probably shall never know. The first batch was still sticky on the top after 24 hours, and had to be left for another 24 hours- and I still wasn't quite happy with it. I did a second pour and left that for 48 hours - most of the items were ok, but the green man still ha a stick nose - which of course my finger caught! It still wasn't dry after a further 12 hours.
The coaster was part of the first pour and when I moved it, because it wasn't set - the resin wrinkled!
The body of the large bee was an experiment using a different resin, which was black. I blocked the wings with some special clay. However, when I went to add the resin for the wings, it managed to creep under the black resin - it made for a different effect. (I will probably apply gilding wax eventually, so it won't notice quite so much!.
Close ups of the different items: large green man (with his dodgy nose) , ickle bee, ickle owl, sunflower, the "iffy" coaster with a dried anemone in it, and the large bee with the double cast of resin.

Sympathy Card
Firstly apologies for the dodgy photo - obviously a touch of the shakes when I took it. We all hate doing these cards, so I kept it very simple. Just a Clarity die in black card mounted onto white, and a sentiment created in Craft Artist.

Fairy House
I suddenly realised I hadn't shared this little make - a mushroom/fairy house. Another moul dusted with various pigments and then resin added.
I shall make this again as I can now see a lot more detail and will brush with some different colours.

Gift Card for New Baby
My hairdresser is expecting a new baby soon, and I shan't be seeing her for some time, as she has arranged for me to have somebody else come and visit. So I made this little card to go with a gift for the new baby when it arrives.
